ALEXANDER’S POV
I entered my children’s room and saw them in tears. They quickly got off their beds and ran to hug me, while Mrs Colt and another young lady were standing beside her greeted me.
I responded to their greetings and rushed to my kids.
“Hey, my darlings, remember that you are my children and nothing can change that. Don’t let hurtful words affect you. You hold a special place in my heart, I am your father and you are my children,” I reassured them.
“But mom said we are illegitimate,” Daisy mentioned.
“You are not, my dear children. How about we go for a walk?” I suggested.
“No, I just want to stay indoors,” Denzel replied.
“Come on, dear, it’s a great idea to take a walk with Dad,” the other lady chimed in. Her voice sounded familiar, and I realized I could never forget that voice. “ Freda”.
I turned to her as she smiled at the kids. Her smile reminded me of Freda’s. She glanced at me, and our eyes locked. I examined her from head to toe, and she bore a striking resemblance to Freda, except for her face. Mrs. Colt approached me to introduce her.
“Sir, this is Regina Ford, the new nanny I interviewed. I believe she is the best fit for the kids,” she informed me.
“Nice to meet you, Miss Regina Ford. Have you been shown around and briefed on your responsibilities?” I question
“Yes sir”, she responded.
I have a few rules to share with you, but that will have to wait until I return from a walk with my kids,” I mentioned.
“Understood,” she replied, and I escorted my kids out of the room.
We descended the stairs, and I purposely avoided making eye contact with Briana, who was seated on the couch in the living room. As soon as she caught sight of us, she let out a disapproving noise. I glanced at my kids, who wore expressions of sadness. Despite this, I offered them a reassuring smile.
Once we reached the yard, I inquired about their day at school. I reassured them that my love for them as their parent would never waver. We made our way to the swing in the garden, where I pushed them gently, and soon enough, their laughter filled the air once more.
FREDA POV
I couldn’t help but smile as I watched him rush back home for the sake of our children. When he entered Denzel’s bedroom, I couldn’t tear my eyes away from him. The memories of our time together flooded my mind, and tears welled up in my eyes, but I fought them back.
Then, our children jumped off the bed, and I witnessed the beautiful bond between him and our kids. He loved them so deeply, and the way he reassured them that he would always be their father filled him with happiness. He treated them as if they were his own biological children.
I admired how he expressed his desire to take them for a walk, despite Briana and her kids.
He still loved our children. At that moment, I mustered up the courage to speak, and he looked at me as if he knew it was me. I was terrified, silently praying that he wouldn’t recognize me.
Mrs. Colt introduced me to him, and he expressed his interest in having a discussion with me. I knew it would be about our kids. As he and his children walked out of the room, I couldn’t help but smile, knowing that he still cared.
I turned towards Mrs. Colt and noticed her gaze fixed on me. “Is there something wrong?” I asked politely.
She paused for a moment before speaking. “Have you two met before?” she questioned.
From her question, I could tell that she was starting to suspect that I had some prior connection with him. “Met?” I questioned.
“Nevermind, dear. I just thought maybe you both had crossed paths somewhere, judging by the way he reacted when he heard your voice,” she explained.
“Perhaps it’s because we are meeting for the first time,” I suggested.
“You’re right,” she replied.
“Let’s go to the kitchen and instruct the maids to prepare something, as the kids haven’t eaten,” she suggested.
I nodded and followed her to the kitchen. A few minutes later, the kids returned and both Colt and I asked them what they would like to have, but their father intervened, stating that he would take them out to eat. Colt and I split up to dress the kids in their room. After a few minutes, they were ready to go, and as they were about to leave, he glanced at me while I averted my gaze.
“You and Colt should get dressed and join us too,” he said.
“Sir, there’s no need for me to join you on the outing with the kids anymore, as I will be leaving soon.
I think Regina should go, since she is the new nanny,” Colt stated.
“She is new to the kids, and even I am new to her. I just think you should show her a few things ,you do with the kids whenever you join us on a date,” he suggested.
“I conducted the interview, and Regina is a professional nanny and a trained nurse. I believe she knows what to do with the kids as a professional nanny. I need to start packing,” Colt responded.
“Alright, since that’s your recommendation,” he conceded. “Go get dressed, we’ll be waiting for you in the living room,” I replied.
“Get dressed, we’ll be waiting for you in the living room,” I replied.
“Alright,” I said, making my way down the stairs. I headed to my room, took a quick shower, and chose a simple knee-length flare gown to avoid looking too overdressed.
I applied my makeup and put my hair up in a bun, checking myself in the mirror several times to ensure I looked presentable. I opted for low-heeled shoes and returned to the living room to join them.
“Sir, I’m ready,” I said.
Alex turned to me, his gaze scanning me from head to toe. He couldn’t take his eyes off me, and
I found it difficult to look away, even as Irene observed us.
I quickly averted my gaze when I noticed Irene staring at me with a glare, and instead turned my attention to my children.
Daisy then turned to her father and asked, “Can I bring a toy?”
“Of course, but once we arrive at the restaurant, they will stay in the car,” their dad replied.
