SURROGATE DECIET : CHAPTER EIGHT

Chantel was taken aback by the unexpected presence of Andrew. She also mentioned that the children belonged to him. Henry, on the other hand, instructed the nanny to take the children away.

Henry recognized Andrew Smith as they used to be business partners some time ago. Andrew approached them, observing the nanny taking the children away. Chantel was surprised to see Andrew and walked towards him. “What did you say earlier?” she asked, while Andrew stood up and Henry approached them. “You heard me correctly, but I can repeat it if you want. I said the children are mine,” he stated, leaving Chantel confused and unsure of what Andrew was trying to convey. “Take back what you said,” she demanded, to which Andrew smiled. “Pardon me! What did you say again?” he inquired. “You heard me clearly, and I won’t repeat myself. So take back those words,” she responded angrily, unaware that Andrew was the true father of her children. “I can see that you have become bold and have the audacity to talk back to me. Remember, I used to be your boss, and I helped you when you needed assistance. Is this how you repay me, by taking away my children?” he retorted, leaving Chantel lost in her thoughts. “What do you mean? I ran away because I noticed something suspicious between you and your wife, Claire. Both of you wanted children, and it seemed like a deceitful act,” she explained. “We weren’t involved in any deceitful act, but the children are mine, if you must know,” he clarified, while Chantel remained lost in her thoughts. “Can you please be clear?” she requested, and Andrew turned to Henry. “Henry! You don’t need to adopt the children; they are mine,” he declared, causing Henry to stare at him and Chantel to feel increasingly nervous. “Why should I trust that the children are yours?” Henry questioned, and Chantel approached him. “Don’t pay attention to him, Henry. The children are not his; they are now ours. Besides, I don’t know who fathered my children, and Henry is willing to take on the responsibility of being their father. I know that you and Claire wanted children,” she nervously explained. “Henry! The children are mine; you have to trust me.” Chantel was taken aback by the unexpected presence of Andrew, and she couldn’t help but express her surprise. In addition, she made a point to mention that the children belonged to him. Meanwhile, Henry, recognizing Andrew as his former business partner from years ago, instructed the nanny to remove the children from the scene. As the nanny led the kids away, Chantel, still in a state of astonishment, approached Andrew with a graceful stride. “What did you say earlier?” she inquired, her voice filled with curiosity. Andrew rose from his seat, and Henry moved closer to the unfolding conversation. “You heard me correctly, but if you wish to hear it again, I shall oblige. I stated that the children are indeed mine,” he declared confidently.

Chantel, already bewildered, struggled to comprehend the situation and Andrew’s intentions. “Retract your words,” she demanded, her anger palpable. Andrew responded with a smile, seemingly amused by her request. “Pardon me! Could you repeat what you just said?” he asked, feigning innocence. Chantel’s frustration grew, and she refused to repeat herself. “You heard me perfectly well, and I have no intention of reiterating my words. So, I suggest you take back what you said,” she retorted, her anger intensifying, unaware that Andrew was the true father of her children. “I can see that you have grown audacious, daring to talk back to me. Remember, I used to be your superior, and I assisted you when you were in need. Is this how you repay me? By taking my children away?” he stated, his voice laced with disappointment. Chantel found herself lost in contemplation, unable to fully grasp the situation. “What do you mean? I ran away because I sensed something amiss between you and your wife, Claire.

Both of you desired children, but it seemed like a deceitful act,” she explained, her words filled with a mix of confusion and accusation. Andrew insisted, “We were not involved in any foul play, but the children are mine, if you need to know.” Chantel remained lost in her thoughts. “Could you please clarify?” she asked, turning to Henry. “Henry, there is no need for you to adopt the children, they belong to me,” Andrew stated, as Henry stared at him and Chantel grew increasingly anxious. “Why should I believe that the children are yours?” Henry inquired, causing Chantel to approach him. “Don’t pay attention to him, Henry. The children are not his; they are now ours. Besides, I don’t know who impregnated me, and Henry is willing to take on the responsibility of being their father. I know you and Claire wanted children,” she nervously explained. “Henry, the children are mine. You have to trust me,” Andrew insisted. “Give me a reason to trust you,” Henry demanded, as Chantel hoped he was telling the truth. “I am the one who got Chantel pregnant,” Andrew confessed, leaving Chantel shocked. “What do you mean? How could you impregnate me without my knowledge?” she angrily questioned. “I understand that this was part of your plan, but it won’t work on me,” she retorted, before Henry interrupted. “Chantel, I think you should let him explain,” he suggested, as Andrew felt ashamed but knew he had to explain in order to gain custody of his children. “It was a plan between Claire and me to impregnate you without your knowledge, when we discovered that Claire was infertile. We thought you could help us, but I know we went about it the wrong way. I promise to pay whatever you ask for. Just name your price, and I will give you any amount,” Andrew pleaded.

Chantel, filled with anger, could only think of slapping Andrew in that moment. Although she refrained from doing so, tears began to fall from her eyes.  “How did you manage to have sex with her without her consent?” he asked. Chantel was also curious, but she tried to hide her anger. “Claire drugged her drink that night, that’s how I was able to have sex with her and get her pregnant,” he explained. Henry became furious and was about to hit him, but Chantel stopped him and struck Andrew in the face.

Andrew was already angry, but he had to remain calm. “I know I don’t deserve anything right now because I know I wronged you. Just tell me your price, and Henry, you don’t need to be angry. I’m sorry, I’m here to make peace and take responsibility. You both are already engaged,” he said. Henry managed to stay calm because Chantel held him back. “What makes you think that after everything you and your wife Claire did, I would give you my kids? You are such a wicked man, both you and Claire. And mind you, my kids are not for sale. You will never be their father. Over my dead body will you do that. Get out of here because Henry will soon be the legal father of my kids, and there’s nothing anyone can do about it,” she said angrily. She couldn’t believe that Andrew and Claire had tricked her. “Henry, the kids are mine, so it would be better if you give them to me now, or else there will be a big battle between us,” he threatened. “It would be best if you left this place immediately before I summon security to forcibly remove you. You should also be aware that you no longer have any rights to the children, as you and your so-called infertile wife chose to have them through unconventional means.

Vivian and Vincent are now my children, and there is nothing you can do about it. I am prepared to fight anyone who tries to take them away from me,” he declares. Upon hearing this, Andrew realizes that he may have lost the battle, but he silently vows not to give up. “The children belong to me, and I will ensure that I claim what is rightfully mine,” he asserts. Filled with anger, Henry calls for security, and Andrew wastes no time in leaving before they arrive. Chantel, still in shock, cannot believe that Andrew and Claire deceived her.

Overwhelmed with emotions, she begins to weep, feeling used once again and questioning her own wisdom. “Why am I not wise?” she sobs, and Henry reaches out to hold her hand. “You are wise, and it is not your fault. You trusted them, believing they would never betray you. This is why it is not advisable to trust blindly. They fooled you, but know that I am always by your side. I will fight and protect you until the end, and I promise that no one will take our children away from us,” he reassures her.

Chantel embraces Henry, seeking comfort in his words. “You should take me home. My mood has already been ruined,” she requests, and she calls for the nanny to bring the children so they can return home. Despite trying to distract herself, Chantel cannot stop thinking about Andrew’s earlier words.
